What is Global Education?
 

Global education is a continuously evolving field. Global education seeks to dissolve borders and encourage divergent cultures and people with different belief systems to collaborate. People all around the world are connected through music, food, business, religion, and technology. In order to help students develop global compotency and 21st Century skills, the classroom and the role of the teacher needs to be redefined.
 
 


Am I Global?

Since there is no standard image of global education, it varies depending on the classroom and teacher. Are you meeting the needs of your students in this global age? Are you interested in expanding the walls of your classroom? Use these assessment tools to evaluate your teaching practices.

  • Global Education Guide: Oxfam:
    This guide examines why it is important to be a global citizen. It also provides classroom activities and case studies that can extend student thinking about issused associaged with global citizenship. 
  •  A Framework for 21st Century Learning:
    P21 developed a framework for 21st century learning. The national organization provides a multitude of tolls and resources to help educators develop practices that encourage critical thinking, communication, and collaboration in the classroom.
  • Global Education Checklist by Fred Czarra:
    This checklist is designed to help curriculum developers, educators, and schools gauge how they are performing within the realm of global/ internation education. After completing the checklist, educators and schools should set goals and continuously adapt to meet the needs of their school community.
